That’s true, there is a spark of hope at the end. And I really liked the way everything wrapped around full circle from the opening scene to the closing one. I’m looking forward to watching the documentary that came with the movie. Despite years of art class, I realized I know very little about Rembrandt’s life, I just always loved his paintings.

I love this movie as well and have been successfully spreading it to some friends ;). I must admit though that I felt pretty happy for Rembrandt at the end, for he has finally realised the promise from the very beginning in recognising Hendrikje (and overcoming his pornographic relationship with Geertje).

Sadly this video will always be made a little less awesome in my mind because its release was timed to within a week of the annoucement of her divorce from DCFC’s Ben Gibbard. It seems like a case of bad optics but it is a shame that the great Chemistry betwixt her and Mr. Levitt is entangled with her split from Gibbard.

Thanks. :) Although that’s not the beginning. The story starts off with the current generation, and then partway through flashes back to an earlier generation, which this is from. Similar to how the Cryptonomicon was framed, going back and forth between three generations. And actually, even the beginning starts off somewhere in the middle. But I’m getting ahead of myself. ;-)

That’s the thing… I don’t get writer’s block, pretty much ever. What I get, is far too many ideas, and a whole mess of words that won’t behave and stay on the paper (as it were). But I’d much rather have that than the alternative, so I’m not complaining. ;-)
