National Novel Writing YEAR 2008: 238,412 words for 2008. I snuck past my 200k goal in November thanks to NaNoWriMo (a win at 51,093 words). Keeping track of every word written for two years running might seem a bit insane, but it did get me into a regular writing habit. Now that the habit is deeply ingrained, I think I can happily leave off nickle-and-diming it in the future (NaNoWriMo excepted – mainly because it’s still a heck of a lot of fun to throw down 50,000 words in 30 days, whatever they end up turning into).
